Three Wildcats Named CSC Academic All-District

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Three Central Washington University Basketball standouts were tabbed to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, CSC announced Tuesday. Asher Cai and Sunny Huerta represented the Wildcat Women's Basketball Team while Jordan Clark was the sole representative from the Men's Basketball Team while all three 'Cats will move on to the CSC Academic All-America ballot which will be announced on April 15.
 
The 2024 Academic All-District Football Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his or her current institution.
 
Clark is the owner of a 3.58 GPA in Communications. The Honorable Mention All-GNAC honoree played a key role in helping the 'Cats to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season. He posted 11.7 points per game, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game to go with 28 steals and four blocks. He finished the season shooting 45.5 percent from the floor, 44.9 percent from three, and 91.6 percent at the free-throw line.
 
Cai currently owns a 3.85 GPA in Public Health. The unanimous First Team All-GNAC honoree was a leader for the 'Cats and was pivotal in helping CWU to their first-ever Sweet 16 appearance. She posted numbers that included 16.8 points per game, 7.1 rebounds per game, and 3.2 assists per game to pair with 12 blocks and a team-high 53 steals. She finished the season shooting 43.7 percent from the floor, 37.5 percent from three, and 82.2 percent at the free-throw line.
 
Huerta has a 3.53 GPA in Social Services. The GNAC Player of the Year and All-American led CWU with 63 points during the crimson and blacks time in the NCAA Tournament that included their first-ever Sweet 16 appearance. She concluded her collegiate career with 19.1 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game, and a team-high 3.9 assists per game as well as 34 steals and five blocks. She shot 44.7 percent from the floor, 46.2 percent from three, and 83.9 percent at the charity stripe.
