Wildcats Fall on GNAC-Opening Day

MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Central Washington University Softball Team fell in day one of their GNAC-opening day.

SCORING:
 
  • Isabelle Lewis put the Wolves on the board in the first inning when she singled to right field to score Aaliyah Gaboriault.
  • Kate Ronning added on in the third when she singled to left center to score Victoria Zimmerman making it 2-0 WOU.
  • In the sixth inning an error by the pitcher scored Ronning followed by a Madelynne Hommel singled to left center field scored Mauer and Lexi Baumgartner to make it 5-0 Wolves.

PITCHING:
 
  • Payton Kessler pitched 5.2 innings allowing eight hits, five runs with three being earned, and two walks while striking out three of 27 batters.
  • Olivia Ross pitched the final 0.1 innings facing one batter.
  • Kennedy Abbas pitched the full seven innings for WOU allowing five hits and two walks while striking out six of 27 batters.

SCORING:
 
  • Lewis put the only score of the game on the board in the sixth inning when she singled to center field to score Zimmerman making it 1-0 Wolves.
 
HITTING:
 
  • Reitz-Eaton, Theophilus, and Raeden Young each had one hit in the game.
  • Reitz-Eaton, Decker, and Serena Perez all drew one walk.
  • Four different Wolves each logged a hit with Lewis recording the only RBI.
 
PITCHING:
 
  • Theophilus pitched the full six innings allowing four hits, one run, and one walk while striking out four of 24 batters.
  • Abby Stansbury pitched the full seven innings for the Wolves allowing three hits and three walks while striking out three of 28 batters.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
 
  • The Wolves now lead the all-time series 75-70.
  • CWU is 22-37 all-time in Monmouth.
  • In the past 10 matchups, the Wolves have won seven of them.
