MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Central Washington University baseball team (18-16, 12-10 GNAC) started the day rough but rebounded to split the opening doubleheader of the series Saturday afternoon against Western Oregon (10-21, 7-15 GNAC) by scores of 0-6 and 9-5.

The Crimson and Black opened up the scoring in the fifth inning, scoring four runs off a bases-loaded walk by Nadeau, a single from Birch, another bases-loaded walk by Varner Jr., and a hit-by-pitch by Brandham Ponce as WOU's pitching couldn't find a way out of the jam.

Western Oregon's offense found inspiration from CWU in the fifth and responded with three runs off a bases-loaded walk by Owen Bischoff, a sacrifice fly by Collin Irwin, and a single by John Oleson to trail 4-9.
