PORTLAND, Ore.- Emy Ntekpere and
E'lexis Hollis of the Central Washingtion University track and field team were named GNAC Women's Field Athlete of the Year and Women's Track Athlete of the Year on Friday afternoon.
Ntekpere put together a great season, claiming three national titles and establishing history of her own, becoming the only women in GNAC history to win two individual field events at the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships. Ntekpere recorded 13.33 meters in the triple jump to secure national champion status. In the high jump, she recorded 1.82 meters, becoming a two-time outdoor national champion.
Hollis had a dominant indoor and outdoor season, securing First Team All-American honors in both and earning national runner up for the 100 meters. She recorded 11.10 seconds in the preliminary round and 11.25 seconds in the final round, finishing second in the nation. Hollis also cruised to the final round of the 200-meter with a time of 23.20 seconds. In the final, she placed sixth with 23.27 seconds.
