ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University women's soccer team (1-0) kicked off the 2025 season in winning fashion–defeating Eastern Oregon University (3-1-1) Thursday afternoon 2-0 behind a pair of goals from Wildcat newcomers
Emma Barrett and
Jaylee Reynolds.
FIRST HALF
It was an even battle with both teams getting a shot off in the first 25 minutes. Then, Reynolds took a throw-in, brought it right outside of the box, and took a shot that deflected off an EOU defender–sending the ball over the Mountaineer goalie, Rylee Schei, and into the net. Reynolds' teammates swarmed her as the 'Cats scored their first goal of the 2025 season. The teams would finish the first half with Eastern Oregon getting a couple more chances on goal, but the score remained in Central's favor into halftime.
SECOND HALF
The second half started similarly to the first, as both teams had a fair amount of competitiveness on each end. Then, the Wildcats got a corner kick for a chance in the 71st minute. Barrett sent the ball into play as a Mountaineer deflected the ball out of play for another corner kick. Barrett would not let her second chance falter as the freshman launched a perfect lob that Schei couldn't handle–giving the 'Cats a 2-0 lead that they would hold to finish their season debut in the winning column.
