Red-Hot Wildcats Host Northwest Nazarene for Homecoming

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University volleyball team (10-4, 6-2 GNAC) continues its homestand this week with a lone matchup against Northwest Nazarene as the Wildcats celebrate homecoming weekend.

LAST WEEKEND:

Central continued its dominant run through GNAC play with a pair of home sweeps over Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific. The 'Cats opened the weekend with a 25-22, 25-9, 25-14 victory over the Yellowjackets, hitting a season-best .409 while recording 47 kills and seven service aces. Kailey Willsey led the offense with 12 kills, while Kayleigh-Shay Chang finished with 23 assists and Brooklyn Parker added 15 digs.
 
The Wildcats followed with one of their most impressive performances of the season, sweeping Seattle Pacific 25-21, 39-37, 25-13. The second set's 39-37 score tied the NCAA Division II record for points in a single set, and CWU held the Falcons to a .099 attack percentage. Corinne Westby led the Crimson and Black with 15 kills, Ellie Marble added 13 plus 12 digs for a double-double, and Kailey Willsey recorded seven blocks. Central has now won six straight matches and 18 consecutive sets dating back to Sept. 17.

SCOUTING THE NIGHTHAWKS:
 
Northwest Nazarene enters Saturday's match with a 4-4 GNAC record after splitting its matches last week. The Nighthawks pushed Seattle Pacific to five sets before falling 3-2 on Thursday, then bounced back with a 3-0 sweep of Montana State Billings. NNU has won four of its last six matches and sits in the middle of a tightly contested conference race.
 
Abby Black leads one of the conference's top offenses with 224 kills and 3.80 kills per set, while Hailey Cheney has added 106 kills and is hitting .360 on the season. Setter Morgan Wilding averages 5.22 assists per set and shares distribution duties with Addison Lynn, who has recorded 245 assists. Defensively, libero Kayci Spray leads the Nighthawks with 250 digs, while Jenna Holm and Cheney have combined for 110 total blocks.

The Wildcats and Nighthawks hit the court as part of a large homecoming celebration at CWU on Saturday starting with the Wildcat Soccer team against NNU at 11:00 a.m., then first serve for Volleyball from Nicholson Arena at 1:00 p.m., and then CWU Football takes on Midwestern State at 6:00 p.m. at Tomlinson Stadium.
