ELLENSBURG, Wash. – This Thursday at 11 a.m., the Wildcats will face the #1 seed in the GNAC, the Western Washington Vikings (12-1-1). The 'Cats finished conference play as the #4 seed, holding a conference record of 6-6-2 after an impressive season to make the GNAC Tournament for the first time since 2019. As the lower seed, the Wildcats will look to take down their rivals for an upset that would shake up the bracket, eliminating the favorite to win it all.
LOOKING AT WWU:
The team ended their season with a 0-3 loss to WWU but will quickly look for revenge as they play the Vikings in back-to-back games. The Head Coach of the Vikings, Travis Connell, received a red card in that last match against CWU, meaning he will have to serve his one-game suspension against the Wildcats in the opening round of the GNAC Tournament. The Wildcats could not get anything going offensively against the Vikings in either of the games they played against them this year. They were able to hold them to a 0-0 result for a tie early in the season but had no answer for them in their most recent match. They now have a chance to win the season series and advance into the GNAC Tournament Championship with a win over their rivals, which would have them facing off against either Simon Fraser University (11-2-1) or Seattle Pacific University (8-4-2).
