ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington University Head Football Coach Scott Power is excited to announce the addition of central Washington native B.J. Mullin as the new Safeties Coach.
"I am excited to have B.J. join our staff as our Safeties Coach," Power said. "Coach Mullin is a bright young coach who exudes a lot of passion for the game and for the players he coaches. B.J. is no stranger to the area after attending both high school and college in Washington state. His knowledge of the area and his enthusiasm for coaching young people will be key to our success."
Mullin comes to CWU after spending two and a half years at Boise State University. He originally started as an Offensive Assistant before moving to a Defensive Quality Control position after two months. He has served as an Assistant Linebackers Coach since the 2024 season. Prior to joining the Broncos, he spent the spring 2023 semester at Eastern Washington University as a Defensive Assistant. He earned his start in collegiate coaching as an Assistant Recruiting Coordinator at his alma mater, Whitworth University. Before that, he spent the spring of 2019 as the Defensive Backs Coach at his alma mater, Moses Lake High School.
Mullin, a Moses Lake, Wash. native, was a member of the Whitworth Pirates football team for five season, spending his final two as a team captain. He totaled 91 tackles: 61 solo and 29 assisted, while adding 2.5 tackles for loss totaling five yards. He also recorded two interceptions for 13 return yards, 11 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

He is a 2022 graduate of Whitworth where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management with a minor in Athletic Coaching.
