Super Bowl Champion Kimo von Oelhoffen Added to the CWU Coaching Staff

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington University Football Head Coach Scott Power has added former Super Bowl Champion Kimo von Oelhoffen as his latest addition to his staff to help with the defensive line.

"I'm thrilled to have Kimo join our staff as our Defensive Ends Coach," Power said. This will be our fifth time working together and his knowledge of the game, ability to connect with young people, and his passion for developing players will be paramount to our success. Kimo spent 15 years in the NFL, won a Super Bowl, and played for some of the best defensive minds that have ever coached, so he knows what success looks like. We are ecstatic to have him here in Ellensburg!"

Von Oelhoffen has gained valuable coaching experience at the NCAA Division II level, including serving as the Defensive Line Coach at rival Western Oregon as well as a Pass Rush Specialist at Texas A&M-Commerce, now East Texas A&M. He also spent several years at Richland High School, where he played a key role in developing the Bomber defense into one of the top units in Washington State.

Von Oelhoffen put together a very respected 14-year NFL career after being selected in the sixth round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent six seasons in Cincinnati before signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2000, where he became a key piece of one of the league's most physical defensive fronts. Known for his toughness and reliability along the defensive line, von Oelhoffen started the majority of his games in Pittsburgh and played an instrumental role in the franchise's championship run during the 2005 season, culminating in a victory in Super Bowl XL. He later finished his career with the New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles. Over nearly 200 career games, von Oelhoffen recorded more than 350 tackles and 26.5 sacks, earning a reputation as a steady veteran presence and a consistent force in the trenches.

"It is an honor to be a part of the Central Washington University football program and the Ellensburg community," von Oelhoffen said. "In my time working with Wildcat football in the past, I have seen first-hand the traditions of excellence in both learning along with the athletics at CWU. I look forward to learn and contribute. Thank you for the opportunity."

Von Oelhoffen, a Kaunakakai, Hawaii native, spent one year with the University of Hawai'i at Manoa before transferring to Walla Walla Community College where he spent his sophomore campaign, finishing his collegiate career at Boise State University.
