Wildcats Drop First Doubleheader of Home Opener Against MSUB

YAKIMA, Wash. – The Central Washington University baseball team dropped both games of its first home doubleheader against Montana State Billings on Friday, losing in the first game 3-14, and then falling just short 2-3 in a late comeback attempt at Yakima County Stadium.

  • MSUB struck quickly in the first inning with an RBI single and a bases loaded walk to take a 2-0 lead.
  • The Yellowjackets' offense continued with four more runs in the second inning and then two more in the third to make it an 8-0 lead.
  • Central finally got on the board in the fifth inning when Max Bledy hit a sacrifice fly to allow Kellen Berg to tag up from third base and score.
  • MSUB responded by scoring a pair of runs in the sixth inning, then scored four more in the seventh inning to take a 14-1 lead.
  • The Wildcats closed out the scoring in the eighth when Sinclair Lee hit into a double play with the bases loaded as Andrew Charron scored from third, then Nolan Mowry hit an RBI single.

  • Jack Nehler opened the scoring with an RBI double, followed by another RBI double from Cole Ayala to give MSUB a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
  • Nehler struck again in the fifth inning with an RBI single to take a 3-0 lead.
  • In the final inning, the Wildcats mounted a comeback attempt as the Yellowjackets caused a pair of errors that allowed Logan Blank to score, followed by Lockwood scoring. But the comeback would fall short as MSUB got Lee on a groundout to win the game 3-2.
