YAKIMA, Wash. – The Central Washington University baseball team dropped both games of its first home doubleheader against Montana State Billings on Friday, losing in the first game 3-14, and then falling just short 2-3 in a late comeback attempt at Yakima County Stadium.

GAME 1:
SCORING:
- MSUB struck quickly in the first inning with an RBI single and a bases loaded walk to take a 2-0 lead.
- The Yellowjackets' offense continued with four more runs in the second inning and then two more in the third to make it an 8-0 lead.
- Central finally got on the board in the fifth inning when Max Bledy hit a sacrifice fly to allow Kellen Berg to tag up from third base and score.
- MSUB responded by scoring a pair of runs in the sixth inning, then scored four more in the seventh inning to take a 14-1 lead.
- The Wildcats closed out the scoring in the eighth when Sinclair Lee hit into a double play with the bases loaded as Andrew Charron scored from third, then Nolan Mowry hit an RBI single.
HITTING:
- Nolan Mowry and Max Bledy each recorded an RBI.
- Seven Wildcats, including Mowry, Jonathan Rominger, Sinclair Lee, Andre Garza, Jake Lockwood, Logan Lipscomb, and Andrew Charron recorded a hit each, while Charron, Kaiden Hernandez, and Kellen Berg scored a run each.
- The Wildcats reached base 11 times by hits and walks.
PITCHING:
- Austin Cupic pitched five innings, allowing eight runs, nine hits, and striking out five of the 33 batters he faced.
- Camdyn Martindale pitched 1.2 innings, allowing two runs, three hits, and striking out one of the 12 batters he faced.
- Nolan Soderstrom pitched 1.1 innings, allowing one run, four hits, and striking out two of the nine batters he faced.
- Braeden Fagnant pitched one inning, allowing zero runs, zero hits, and striking out one of the three batters he faced.
- Sam Coxen pitched seven innings for the Yellowjackets, allowing one run, four hits, and striking out six of the 26 batters he faced.
- Cody Snow pitched one inning for the Yellowjackets, allowing two runs, three hits, facing six batters.
- Lance Schaaf pitched one inning for the Yellowjackets, allowing zero runs, zero hits, and striking out one of the five batters he faced.

- Jack Nehler opened the scoring with an RBI double, followed by another RBI double from Cole Ayala to give MSUB a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
- Nehler struck again in the fifth inning with an RBI single to take a 3-0 lead.
- In the final inning, the Wildcats mounted a comeback attempt as the Yellowjackets caused a pair of errors that allowed Logan Blank to score, followed by Lockwood scoring. But the comeback would fall short as MSUB got Lee on a groundout to win the game 3-2.

- Garet Hagy pitched all seven innings, allowing three runs, four hits, and striking out seven of the 29 batters he faced.
- Brennen Chappell pitched all seven innings for the Yellowjackets, allowing two runs, five hits, and striking out eight of the 30 batters he faced.
