ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University men's basketball team (11-10, 5-5 GNAC) opens a two-game Alaska road swing this week, beginning Thursday night at Alaska Anchorage (15-7, 7-4 GNAC) before facing Alaska Fairbanks (10-10, 5-6 GNAC) on Saturday afternoon, looking to build momentum in the downhill stage of GNAC play.

Central pulled away after halftime to earn a 91-76 road win over Northwest Nazarene on last Saturday at the Johnson Sports Center. The 'Cats carried a slim 40-38 lead into halftime before taking control in the second half, outscoring the Nighthawks 51-38. CWU shot 53 percent from the floor and built its lead into double digits midway through the half, pushing the lead as high as 21. NNU briefly threatened early after the break, but the Wildcats answered each run and controlled the tempo over the final 10 minutes to seal the victory.
Bradley Swillie led the way with 25 points on 7-11 shooting, and a perfect 8-8 at the free-throw line while adding four rebounds and four assists.
Eli Williams followed with 14 points and four assists, going 9-9 on free throws, and
Jordan Clark added 13 points and four assists.
Calvin Sisk provided an efficient inside presence with 11 points on 5-5 shooting and a team-leading eight rebounds, while
Xavier Kamalu-Vargas chipped in 12 points and five boards off the bench.
Chae Haynes added seven points and six rebounds to round out a balanced effort.
SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES:
Alaska Anchorage has gone 4-2 since its Jan. 10 win over Central Washington in Ellensburg, bouncing back from a 91-76 loss at Alaska Fairbanks with three wins in its next four games. The Seawolves beat Seattle Pacific 54-50 and Montana State Billings 84-70 at home before falling 84-75 at Western Washington, then closed the stretch with a 69-54 victory at Simon Fraser.
Sylas Williams leads Alaska Anchorage with 247 total points, and 7.4 rebounds per game, while Hasaan Herrington adds 261 points and a team-high 99 assists while shooting 83.3% from the free-throw line. Bishop Tosi averages 10.8 points on a team-best 54.2% shooting, and Akok Machar contributes 9.5 points per game and ranks among the team leaders with 45 assists and 33 steals, while Williams also tops the Seawolves with 18 blocked shots.
The Wildcats take on the Seawolves on Thurs, Feb. 5. Tip-off from the Alaska Airlines Center is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. PST.
SCOUTING THE NANOOKS:
Since its Jan. 8 loss at Central Washington, Alaska Fairbanks has gone 2-4, picking up a home win over rival Alaska Anchorage and a road victory at Simon Fraser. The Nanooks fell at Northwest Nazarene and dropped back-to-back home games to Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific before beating Simon Fraser 69-57, then closed the stretch with a 96-89 loss at Western Washington.
Mike Miller leads Alaska Fairbanks with 307 points and 39 steals, anchoring a trio of double-figure scorers for the Nanooks. Tyriq Luke adds 299 points and 55 assists, while Davis Crilly averages 12.9 points and 6.2 rebounds. Jalai O'Keith contributes 11.7 points and a team-best 6.5 rebounds per game, and Tariq Weiser directs the offense with a team-high 75 assists while shooting 43.5% from three-point range.
The Wildcats and Nanooks hit the court on Saturday, Feb. 7. Tip-off from the Alaska Airlines Gymnasium is set for 4:15 p.m. PST.
