ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University Softball Team suffered a pair of defeats to conclude the GNAC-opening series against Western Oregon Saturday afternoon.

GAME 1:
SCORING:
- The Wolves struck in the first inning when Sydney Conklin sacrificed herself to the third baseman to score Madelynne Hommel followed by Brooklyn Schneidt singling to left center field to score Lauren Mauer and Reghann Fairbairn and give the Wolves the 3-0 lead.
- Brooke Baker began the 'Cats response in the bottom of the first with a single to center field to score McKayla Cable followed by Joelie Eder earning a bases loaded walk to score Baker and cut it to a 3-2 WOU lead.
- Mauer added in the second inning when she singled up the middle to score Victoria Zimmerman followed by Conklin adding a single to left field which scored Hommel.
- Still in the second, Schneidt singled to the shortstop to score Mauer followed by Braeli Martin singling to right field to score Conklin and Fairbairn and Haley Homan reaching on an error by the first baseman which scored Schneidt and made it 9-2 in favor of WOU.
- Mauer added another in the third when she sacrificed herself to the right fielder to score Hommel and in the fourth saw Hommel earn a single up the middle to score Jocelyn Rush and make it 11-2 in favor of the Wolves.
- Lizzy Turpen singled in the fifth to right field which scored Kayla Brusseau but the Wolves earned the 11-3 victory.
HITTING:
- The Wildcats logged six hits with Cable, Baker, Brusseau, Kasi Thomas, Turpen, and Izzy Vargas all logging one hit each.
- Baker, Eder, and Turpen all had one RBI.
- Cable had two walks while Brusseau and Eder each drew one.
- The Wolves were led by Schneidt with three hits while Mauer and Martin each added two and Hommel, Conklin, and Emma Cordero added one.
- Schneidt had three RBI while Mauer, Conklin, and Martin added two each and Hommel had one.
- Fairbairn drew three walks while Zimmerman, Hommel, Conklin, and Schneidt all drew one walk.
PITCHING:
- Reese Anderson pitched the first 1.1 innings allowing two hits, five runs with two earned, and three walks against 11 batters.
- Alex Flohr pitched the next 0.2 innings allowing four hits, four runs with three earned, and one walk against eight batters.
- Ellie Gilbert pitched the next two innings, allowing three hits, two runs with neither being earned, and two walks against 13 batters.
- Olivia Ross made her season debut pitching the final inning allowing one hit, no runs, and one walk against five batters.
- Alyssa Fullmer pitched 0.1 innings for the Wolves, allowing three hits, two runs, and one walk against six batters.
- Martin pitched the next 4.2 innings allowing three hits, one run, three walks, and earned seven strikeouts against 20 batters.
GAME 2:
SCORING:
- Fairbairn put the Wolves up in the first when she sacrificed herself to the shortstop which scored Zimmerman and made it 1-0 WOU.
- Homan added in the second with a single which scored Hope Bodak and made it 2-0 Wolves.
- Cable got the 'Cats on the board in the bottom of the second with a single to left field to score Melise Brown and was backed by a double from Jadyn Holdren to score Cable and Vargas and give CWU the 3-2 lead.
- The Wolves tied it up in the third with a single up the middle to score Zimmerman and in the fourth saw Homan give the Wolves the lead once more with a single up the middle to score Bodak and make it a 4-3 WOU lead.
- Brusseau tied things up in the bottom of the fourth when she reached by a fielding error from the shortstop which scored Thomas.
- A huge fifth inning by WOU began when Fairbairn doubled to right center to score Mauer followed by Schneidt following suit with a double down the left field line to score Fairbairn, then Homan singling to right field to score Schneidt and Bodak stealing home to make it 8-4 WOU.
- Still in the fifth, Zimmerman singled to second base to score Homan followed by Hommel reaching on a fielding error by the left fielder which scored Zimmerman and gave the Wolves the 10-4 lead.
- The 'Cats added one more in the fifth when Holdren reached on a throwing error by the second baseman which allowed Brown to score and cut it to a 10-5 WOU lead.
- The Wolves answered in the top of the sixth when Martin doubled to right center to score Gracie Nelson followed by Rush doubling to center field to score Bodak, Martin, and Haley Ching and make it a 14-5 WOU lead.
- The 'Cats began their response in the bottom of the sixth when Vargas drew a bases loaded walk to score Jessica Reitz-Eaton followed by Cable sacrificing herself to the second baseman to score Turpen and Thomas singling to second base to score Vargas and Brown and finally Brusseau singling to center field to score Holdren and cut it to a 14-10 WOU lead.
- The Wolves put the nail in the coffin in the seventh inning when Mauer homered to center field followed by Schneidt tripling down the left field line to score Conklin and Fairbairn and finally Martin singling to right field to score Schneidt to give the Wolves the 18-10 victory.

- The 'Cats were led by Brusseau with two hits while Cable, Holdren, Thomas, Baker, Mia Flores, Turpen, and Brown all had one hit each.
- Cable, Holdren, and Thomas added two RBI while Brusseau and Vargas had one.

- Kennedy Abbas pitched 5.2 innings allowing nine hits, 10 runs with eight earned, eight walks, and four strikeouts against 40 batters.
- Abby Stansbury earned the save pitching 1.1 innings allowing no hits, no runs, and two walks against six batters.
