Wildcats Walk Off Game 1 Before Wolves Respond to Split Doubleheader in Ellensburg

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University baseball team delivered late-inning drama to take the opener on Andre Garza's walk‑off single, but Western Oregon answered with an early offensive surge in the nightcap, leaving the teams with a doubleheader split Friday at CWU Baseball Field.

GAME 1:
 
SCORING:
 
  • Central struck first in game one when Logan Blank reached on a single, moved up on a throwing error, and came home on Ethan Buckley's sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead.
  • Kaiden Hernandez doubled home Max Bledy in the third, and Logan Blank followed with a sacrifice fly to push the Wildcats ahead 3-0.
  • Western Oregon finally broke through in the seventh when Collin Irwin reached on an error and scored on Zane Garvey's RBI single, trimming the deficit to 3-1.
  • CWU answered immediately in the bottom half as Jonathan Rominger doubled and later scored on Logan Blank's RBI single, extending the lead to 4-1.
  • The Wolves rallied in the eighth, scoring twice on a fielder's choice and a sacrifice fly to pull even at 4-4.
  • After Western Oregon tied it again in the ninth on an RBI single from Alex Harden, the 'Cats walked it off when Andre Garza singled home Kaiden Hernandez for a 5-4 final.

  • Two more runs came in the third when Arce singled, Robby Shepherd doubled, and Alex Harden and Jason Olsen each drove in a run, pushing the lead to 5-0.
  • Tyler Mohler launched a solo homer in the fourth to make it 6-0.
  • Central answered with two in the bottom half on an RBI single from Ethan Swenson and a run‑scoring hit from Conrad Henkel, cutting the deficit to 6-2.
  • The Wildcats added one more in the fifth when Andre Garza singled home Kaiden Hernandez, bringing the score to 6-3, where it remained the rest of the way as Western Oregon took the victory in game two.
