ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington University Women's Basketball senior guard
Asher Cai was named to the College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American team the CSC announced Wednesday morning.
The 2026 Academic All-American Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and the NAIA.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs.
Cai, the D2CCA West Region Player of the Year and First Team All-American, has a 3.89 GPA in Exercise Science. She earned her second-straight CSC Academic All-District and her first CSC Academic All-American honor. Cai was named the GNAC Player of the Year and finished as the GNAC's leading career scorer and career three-pointers made. She wrapped up her collegiate career posting 22.2 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, 4.2 assists per game, nine blocks, and 46 steals. She finished the season shooting 43.1 percent from the floor, 35.5 percent from three, and 87.6 percent at the free-throw line. She hit a new career-high twice this season, first making it at Mary and then tying it against Montana State Billings at home, finishing both games with 37 points.
