Wildcats Drop Senior Day Doubleheader in Storey's Final Home Stand

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University baseball team saw its final home doubleheader on Senior Day as well as Head Coach Desi Storey's final home appearance be spoiled by Saint Martin's after the Saints took both games at the CWU Baseball Field Saturday afternoon.

GAME 1:
 
SCORING:
 
  • SMU jumped out quickly in the bottom of the first inning as Alohi Arecchi drove a double to left field, bringing home Kyle Schabot and Carson Dunn to give the Saints an early advantage.
  • Central responded in the top of the first when Ethan Swenson doubled to left, scoring Logan Blank and Andre Garza, with Garza later crossing the plate on a left-field error to even the game at 2-2.
  • The Saints regained the lead in the second inning as Kyle Schabot singled up the middle, plating Isaac Hoag and EJ Ramones to push SMU back in front 4-2.
  • SMU added to its cushion in the third inning when Kelton Tom doubled down the left-field line, scoring Alohi Arecchi and Bransyn Hong while advancing Evan Nicol to third, extending the lead to 6-2.
  • Later in the third, Isaac Hoag reached on a fielding error in left field, allowing Kelton Tom and Evan Nicol to score unearned runs and further widen the margin to 8-2.
  • The Saints tacked on another run in the fourth as Evan Nicol grounded out to third base for a sacrifice, bringing home Kyle Schabot to make it 9-2.
  • CWU added its final run in the fifth inning when Logan Blank doubled to center field, scoring Max Bledy to trim the deficit, but that's as close as the 'Cats could as Saint Martin's defense locked down and took game one 9-3.
 
HITTING:
 
  • Logan Blank led the 'Cats with four hits, as well as recording an RBI and scoring a run.
  • Ethan Swenson followed with two hits and two RBIs.
  • Max Bledy recorded a hit and scored a run, while Andre Garza scored a run.
  • Ethan Buckley walked three times, while Garza and Jonathan Rominger each walked once.
  • The Wildcats reached base 12 times by hits and walks.
  • Kyle Schabot led SMU with three hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
  • Kelton Tom followed with two hits, two RBIs, and a run scored, while Alohi Arecchi and Isaac Hoag each recorded two RBIs, a hit, and scored a run.

SCORING:
 
  • Saint Martin's opened the scoring in the fourth inning when Bransyn Hong doubled to right field and Kelton Tom lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to make the Saints' lead 2-0.
  • The Saints added to the advantage in the fifth inning as Noah Albanese doubled to left‑center field, then Alohi Arecchi followed with a single to second base, pushing Saint Martin's ahead 4–0.
  • SMU broke the game open in the sixth inning when Carson Dunn doubled to right field before Kyle Schabot singled to left field to stretch the lead to 6-0. Noah Albanese capped the rally by launching a two‑run home run to left field that scored Schabot and made it 8-0.
  • The Saints closed out the scoring later in the sixth as Bransyn Hong singled to right field to bring home Arecchi and polish off a 9-0 victory.
 
HITTING:
 
  • Logan Blank and Ethan Buckley each recorded two hits, while Buckley was walked once.
  • Kellen Berg, Andre Garza, and Conrad Henkel each recorded a hit.
  • The Wildcats reached base eight times by hits and walks.
  • Noah Albanese led the Saints with three RBIs, two hits, and two runs.
  • Bransyn Hong followed with two RBIs, two hits, and a run scored.
