RICHARDSON, Texas – Central Washington University fifth-year linebacker Brycen Indell made a mark in the 'Cats Lone Star Conference-opener against 10th-ranked Western Oregon, earning the Wildcats first LSC Player of the Week of the 2026 season, grabbing the LSC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
 
Indell played a crucial role in the Wildcats comeback victory over Pacific Northwest rival and 10th-ranked Western Oregon in the 'Cats LSC-opener on Saturday at home in front of a rocking crowd. He finished with a total of 16 tackles with four coming solo and 12 coming as assisted tackles. He tacked on two tackles for loss that dropped WOU back a total of two yards. His 16 tackles now leads the LSC for the 2026 season for single-game tackles.
 
The Eugene, Ore. native made his return after missing a game and looked the part of his LSC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year status. He now has 19 tackles, five solo, 14 assisted and has added two tackles for loss in just his two appearances this season.
 
Indell and the rest of the 'Cats (1-2, 1-0 LSC) will look to maintain their momentum this weekend as they wrap up their homestand with a clash against the Sul Ross State Lobos (1-2, 0-1 LSC) on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. from Steve Hertling Field at Tomlinson Stadium.
