Biography

Joe Castro IV joined the Wildcat baseball program in the winter of 2013. Stepping directly into a starting role with the Wildcats in centerfield, Castro hit .282 with 11 doubles, 19 runs batted in (RBI), and 11 stolen bases.
 
Prior to CWU, Castro spent the fall of 2012 playing football at Ohio Northern University after transferring from Chabot College (CA). At Chabot, Castro was a very successful two sport star, playing the outfield for the gladiators, as well as catching passes for the football team as a slot receiver. In his sophomore season on the diamond, Castro earned All-Golden Gate Conference honors, as well as earning a “Gold Glove” for his work in the outfield. But that wasn’t all, he was also honored by the NJCAA as an All-American in the spring of 2012.
 
Castro graduated from James Logan High School in Union City, California. He played four years of both baseball and football for the Colts earning various all-conference honors in both sports. He holds the school record for longest kickoff return at 98 yards.
 
Castro was born in Union City, California to parents Joe Castro III and Alicia Garcia. He has two brothers, Lorenzo and Antonio, and two sisters Vanessa and Mia. Castro is majoring in exercise science at CWU and plans to pursue a job in personal training following graduation.
