Biography

BASKETBALL CAREER: Mark McLaughlin joined the Wildcat Men’s Basketball program prior to the 2012-13 season where he was immediately named to the preseason All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) basketball team. McLaughlin did not disappoint during his first year in Ellensburg, where he led the GNAC in scoring with 22.4 points per game, tallying 21 20-point performances, the a number that stands second all-time at CWU. McLaughlin also tallied 5.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game en route to a first team All-GNAC, GNAC Newcomer of the Year, and second team Daktronics All-West Region honors. McLaughlin heads into the 2013-14 season again, as a member of the preseason All-GNAC basketball team.
 
McLaughlin transferred to CWU from the University of Washington where he committed following his sophomore season at Tacoma Community College where he led the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) in scoring at 27.5 points per game and was named the West Region Most Valuable Player. Prior to TCC, McLaughlin spent the previous two seasons at Seattle University, averaging 7.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in his freshman campaign. His 81.5% free throw percentage led the Redhawks in 2010-11. McLaughlin originally attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, but transferred back to Seattle University prior to the beginning of his freshman season.
 
McLaughlin attended Inglemoor High School in Bothell, WA where he averaged 17 points as sophomore in 2005-06. He earned first-team All-KingCo honors in 2007, averaging 21.3 points in 12 games for the Vikings as junior. Following his senior season, McLaughlin spent a season at New Hampton Preparatory School, where he averaged 19.0 points and 6.0 rebounds, prior to committing to Baylor. After the season at New Hampton Preparatory McLaughlin was ranked No. 76 by Rivals.com, No. 77 by Dave Telep of Scout.com, and No. 92 in the 2008 ESPNU 100.
 
PERSONAL LIFE: Mark was born in San Francisco, California to mother Maureen McLaughlin. McLaughlin is a sociology major at CWU.
