CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY: Julian Vaughn joined the Wildcat basketball program in the fall of 2013 following two successful years with Tacoma Community College (TCC). He averaged 3.3 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game with the Wildcats, hitting on nearly 65 percent of his shots from the field. He was recognized as the team’s best defender.
TACOMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE: In 2012-13, Vaughn stepped into a much more significant role for the Titans, averaging 11.3 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. Additionally, Vaughn averaged 1.7 blocked shots per game which was second in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) and shot 58.6% from the field, which was sixth best in the league. Following the season, Vaughn was named to the NWAACC West Region first-team, honored as the West Region Defensive Player of the Year, and participated for the West Region in the NWAACC All-Star game. Vaughn played in every game as a freshman in the 2011-12 season for the Titans, scoring 2.3 points per game and collecting 2.8 rebounds per game, helping TCC capture the NWAACC men’s basketball championship.
HIGH SCHOOL: Vaughn graduated from Curtis High School in University Place, Wash., in 2011. While at Curtis, Vaughn helped the Vikings to a second place finish in the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) 4A State tournament as a senior.
PERSONAL LIFE: Vaughn was born in Tacoma, Wash., to mother, Christine Vaughn. Julian is a business major at CWU. When he’s off the court, Julian likes to visit different Ellensburg restaurants and hang out with friends. His favorite restaurant is the Palace Cafe. Before a big game, Julian likes to calm his nerves with soothing music such as Bob Marley. Julian also enjoys graphic design. Since junior high school, one of his favorite hobbies has been editing photos with Adobe Photoshop.
