CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY: A.J. Maxwell joined the Wildcat basketball program and was a redshirt during the 2013-14 season.
CENTRALIA COLLEGE: Maxwell attended Centralia College from 2010-13. He played two years with the Trailblazers and served as a student assistant coach for a third season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Maxwell graduated in 2010 from Bethel High School in Spanaway, Wash. He played basketball his senior year for the Braves, where he was the top free throw shooter and the team’s Most Improved player.
PERSONAL: Maxwell was born in Tacoma, Wash., to his parents, Joe and Teresa Maxwell. His younger brother Justin also plays football at Whitman University. He is majoring in psychology and minoring in sociology and coaching at CWU. In his spare time, A.J. enjoys cooking and barbecuing. Some of his favorite things to prepare are fried chicken and spaghetti with meatballs. Before a big game, he listens to Jay Z to get him ready to win.
