Storey embarks on his 33rd season as the Central Washington skipper in 2024. He earned his 700th career win on April 6th against SMU, Storey is the winningest coach in Wildcat baseball history. Additionally, Storey is the longest-tenured baseball coach in CWU history, as well as being the longest active head coach in the Wildcat athletic department.

Storey has had twelve winning seasons and six runner-up finishes in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play, including a runner up finish in 2017, with an overall record of 30-23. His 2014 team also brought home the GNAC Tournament Title as the No. 2 seed.

Prior to assuming his post at CWU, Storey spent five seasons as an assistant coach for the Wildcats from 1986-90. The 1988 team qualified for the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho, and finished seventh in the nation. Storey also spent one season (1991) as the head coach at Kittitas High School, leading the Coyotes to a 16-4 record and the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Class B regional final.

As a player, Storey played for two seasons at CWU as a pitcher and outfielder in 1981-82. Prior to CWU, he played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Centralia College, where he batted .305 as a freshman, before upping his average to a league-best .370 as a sophomore. As a pitcher in 1979, Storey went 3-0 with a 0.40 ERA including a 12-inning win, where Storey yielded just one hit and struck out 17. In 1982, Storey went 7-1 on the mound for Wildcats as a starting pitcher, amassing a 4.72 ERA with 53 innings pitched, including five complete game wins, one over Washington State University and two over Eastern Washington University. As a hitter, he hit one of three Wildcat home runs in one inning against Eastern Oregon in 1981, which still stands as the school record for team homeruns in a single inning.

Storey currently resides in Ellensburg with his wife Marnie. The Storeys have three sons, Dustin, Zac, and Brendan and one daughter, Mackenzie. Storey received his Bachelor’s degree in physical education from CWU in 1994.
