Central Washington University: (2014): In 2014 Engel stepped into a predominate roll again as a relief pitcher appearing in 12 games and starting 1...He struck out 14 batters in 22 innings pitched, led by a 5 strikeout game against OIT on Apr. 14...(2013): Engel returned to a significant bullpen role with the Wildcats, appearing in 20 games, compiling a 5.86 ERA...(2012): Engel started two games in 2012, with an earned run average (ERA) of 6.75 but was forced to redshirt the remainder of the season due to injury... 

Skagit Valley College: Prior to CWU, Engel spent his freshman season at Skagit Valley College (WA)...Engel won five games for the Cardinals, while compiling a 2.16 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 58.1 innings...Following the season, Engel earned second team All-West Region honors in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC).
 
High School: Engel graduated from Ellensburg High School in Ellensburg, Washington in 2010...He teamed with fellow Wildcat Ethan Sterkel throughout high school, helping the Bulldogs to 2A State Tournament appearances in his junior and senior seasons while winning the 2010 Central Washington Athletic Conference baseball championship.
