Coach Cooper joined the Wildcats in the Spring of 2019 as a defensive graduate assistant and corner backs coach. In his first year, he coached All-GNAC, All-Region, and All-American Cornerback Tyren Sams and Honorable Mention and #44 recipient Marcus Schimmelfennig. During the 2019 season, all but one player in the cornerback room recorded an interception.

Cooper played collegiately at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, OR, where he was a four-year starter and generally assigned to an opposing teams top receivers. Cooper competed in back-to-back National Championships in 2014 (Won) and 2015 (Loss) under Coach Chris Fisk who was the Co-Offensive Coordinator at the time and former CWU Coach Greg Stewart who was also a Running backs Coach on the staff. During the 2014 and 2015 season, he was also a teammate of CWU D-Line Coach, Grant Torgerson who also coached Cooper for 2 years prior to joining the CWU staff.Â

In, 2017Â Cooper was apart of the first undefeated team since 1946.

In 2018, after his senior season, Coach Cooper wanted to get into coaching and was offered the opportunity to rejoin Coach Fisk when he got the head coaching job at CWU.Â

Father, Hunkie Cooper is the Associate Head Coach and Wide Receivers Coach at San Diego State University.Â
