Stewart joined the Wildcats’ staff in 2017 as the Running Backs Coach.
In 2018, Stewart coached a running back unit that produced two 1,000-yard rushers (Cedric Cooper, Michael Roots). Central running backs found the end zone 34 times on their way to a GNAC championship. Cooper and Roots were both among the top 50 in Division II in all-purpose yards. Roots finished the season as the 4th highest rusher in yards per carry (7.68), while Cooper finished 11th (6.77). They finished first and second in the same category in the GNAC, respectively.
The Wildcats’ offense finished 2018 as the nation’s sixth best rushing offense and was the second ranked scoring offense.
Prior to Central Washington, Stewart was an assistant coach at Southern Oregon University from 2008-2015.
