Biography
“Jalen, who is one of our leading returning scorers, can shoot it as well as anybody. And he’s bigger and stronger this year.” - CWU head coach Greg Sparling
CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY: Jalen Peake joined the Wildcat basketball program in the fall of 2013 following his prep career at West Valley High School in Yakima, Wash. Not far from home, he fit right in playing in 25 games and averaging 4.9 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. Peake quickly established himself as a dangerous long range shooting threat.
HIGH SCHOOL: A two-time all-Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) performer, Peake averaged 16 points per game during his senior year, leading the Rams to a sixth place finish in the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) state basketball playoffs, while being named the CWAC’s Most Valuable Player.
PERSONAL: Peake was born in Indianapolis, Ind., to his parents, Michael Peake and Candi Martinez. Peake is majoring in recreation and tourism. When he’s not on the court, Jalen likes to be outdoors where he can go camping, fishing and boating. He also plays tennis frequently, which he also played competitively in high school. Before a big game, Jalen puts on Schoolboy Q or ASAP Rocky to get him ready to win.
