MOSCOW, Idaho (Feb. 6) -- Freshman
Anthony Wright (Lakewood/Lakes HS) won the men's 60-meter dash and nine Central Washington University track and field student-athletes met Great Northwest Athletic Conference automatic qualifying standards at the Runner's Soul Open at the Kibbie Dome on Saturday.
Wright had the only sub-seven-second time among the 56 finishers in the 60 on Saturday, turning in a winning time of 6.96 seconds. His Saturday time was six one-hundredths of a second behind his personal best of 6.90 seconds that he established in the preliminary round of Friday's Vandal Indoor, also in Moscow. Teammate
Bryan Mack (Arlington) finished third in the event with a time of 7.08 seconds.
Central had nine marks that were both season's bests and GNAC automatic qualifying marks at the meet. Included among those was sophomore
Kincaid Nichols (Sequim) in the 200-meter dash (22.45 seconds). In his CWU debut, freshman
Scott Morrison (Hoquiam) finished second in the men's 400 and qualified for the conference meet with a time of 49.62 seconds. Freshman
Anthony Hogan (Federal Way/Todd Beamer HS) qualified in the 60-meter hurdles with a fourth-place time of 8.56 seconds.
In the high jump, freshman

Freshman
Brandon Roddewig (Fall City/Mount Si HS) qualified in the pole vault with a leap of 15 feet, 1 inch.
Mychal Ostler (Stevenson) joined
Tyler Fischer (Cashmere) as an automatic qualifier in the weight throw with his Saturday toss of 54 feet, 8 inches. Fischer had previously qualified with his 58 foot, 4 1/2 inch toss at the UW Invitational on Jan. 30.
Earning automatic berths into the conference meet for the women were field event competitors
Raisa Yates (Moxee/East Valley HS) in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 10 1/2 inches, and
Jordan Stueckle (Selah) in the women's weight throw with a best mark of 47 feet, 1/4 inch. Stueckle became the second Wildcat this season to qualify in the weight throw, joining fellow junior
Torrie Self (Kent/Kent-Meridian HS), whose mark of 51 feet, 3/4 inch at the UW Invitational had previously qualified.
Central Washington will head to Seattle for the third time this season for two more meets next weekend. Those will be the final tune-ups and final qualification opportunities prior to the GNAC Championships, which will be held Feb. 19-20 in Nampa, Idaho.
