ELLENSBURG, Wash – The Central Washington University Track & Field Team heads to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Emporia, Kan. at Welch Stadium.

ABOUT THE MEET:
The Wildcats will send a strong group of athletes to nationals, highlighted by six individual entries and two relay teams. On the men's side, junior Josh Boast will compete in the 400-meter hurdles after posting a qualifying time of 51.45, while senior Drew Klein enters the decathlon with a qualifying score of 6,908 points.
The women's squad features standout senior sprinter Elise Hopper, who qualified individually in both the 400-meter dash and 200-meter dash while also contributing to the Wildcats' 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Junior Ellie DeGroot will race in the 400-meter hurdles and run on the 4x400 relay squad.
Freshman Layla Fields, junior Zoe Gonzales, and sophomore Ashlyn Nielsen join Hopper on the 4x100 relay team after qualifying with a season-best 45.31. Senior Donna Marie Harris and senior Carley Huber will team with DeGroot and Hopper on the 4x400 relay squad.
In the field events, junior Maliyah Gordon qualified for the women's shot put with a mark of 14.65 meters.
Competition begins Thursday, May 21, with preliminary races in the women's 4x100 relay, women's 400-meter dash, men's 400-meter hurdles, and women's 400-meter hurdles. The championships conclude Saturday with the women's shot put and event finals.
