Senior Carson McKole again led the CWU offense with three shots on goal in Thursday's loss to MSU Billings.
Box Score

ELLENSBURG (Oct. 11) -- The Central Washington University women's soccer team outshot visiting Montana State University Billings by a 17-15 margin, but the Wildcats were unable to find the goal for the fourth consecutive game in falling to the Yellowjackets, 2-0, on Thursday afternoon at the CWU Soccer Field.

The Wildcats have dropped five straight matches overall, including the last four by shutout, and are now 3-8-2 overall (2-6-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference). MSUB improved to 11-2-0 overall and 7-2-0 in the conference after completing a sweep of the season series from CWU.

CWU, which played its first home game in Ellensburg since Sept. 8 after an extended road trip and poor air quality in the Kittitas Valley kept the team away from its home field, played even with the Yellowjackets in the shot department throughout the contest. Each team was credited with 10 first-half shot attempts, and the Wildcats outshot the Yellowjackets 7-5 in the final 45 minutes, but only four of the CWU shot attempts made it on goal.

Montana State Billings capitalized on a pair of miscues in the Wildcats' defensive end of the field, which led to the Yellowjackets' goals at the 21st and 27th minutes. On each occasion, forward Heidi Greenback finished the play with a tally, recording her sixth and seventh goals of the season, with assists from Chelsea Shuman at the 21st minute and from Kristen Kastelic at the 27th.

The Wildcats, whose last goal came in the 72nd minute of a 3-2 loss at Saint Martin's on Sept. 27, got two shots on goal from senior CARSON MCKOLE (Oak Harbor) in the final 10 minutes, but both were saved by Alexandra Johnson.  McKole finished the contest with five of CWU's 17 shot attempts, including three of its four on goal tries.

CWU sophomore KAYLA LIPSTON (Federal Way/Decatur HS) made five saves in goal for the Wildcats, while Johnson countered with three in posting her eighth shutout of the season.

The Wildcats remain home this Saturday (Oct. 13), taking on Northwest Nazarene University at 11 a.m. as part of a CWU Athletics tripleheader that also includes football (1 p.m. versus Simon Fraser University) and volleyball (7 p.m. versus Saint Martin's University).
