JESSICA VANDYKE (Chester, MT) broke the school reocord for career three-pointers made, but the Wildcats lost on a buzzer beater to Northwest Nazarene Saturday evening in Nicholson Pavilion.
VanDyke shot 8 of 17 for the contest and was 6 of 14 from three-point territory to finish with a game high 23 points. VanDyke, who now has 176 career treys, passed Becky Matzen (1996-00) for the three-point record but has done so in 32 less contests.
The Wildcats fall to 6-11 on the season and 1-8 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action. The Crusaders improve to 11-6 overall, 4-5 in GNAC.
Central Washington came out of the gates hot building a quick 11-4 lead, due in large part to VanDyke connecting on her first three shots from behind the three-point arc. The Wildcats led all the way up to the 7:45 mark in the first-half before NNU went on a 16-8 run to end the half with a 37-30 advantage over CWU.
COURTNEY JOHNSON (Kentwood HS) go the Wildcats on the board with a big three-pointer on the first possession of the second-half to cut the Crusader lead to just four points. The Crusaders would then answer back by building an 11-point advantage with 13:07 left in the game.
More hot shooting from the Wildcats helped the home team get to within four points on multiple occasions, but each time the Crusaders answered to extend their lead. The Wildcats finally got to within one point with just under two-minutes left on a layup by

AMBER MOSER (Willamina, OR) tied the game with a free throw at 64 points apiece.  After a NNU timeout, the Crusaders took the inbound pass and made the game winning basket as time expired, winning the contest 66-64.
As a team the wildcats shot 35.7 percent, while the Crusaders finished at 37.5 percent from the field. Northwest Nazarene took advantage of the Wildcats 17 turnovers outscoring CWU 25-5 in points off turnovers.
Up next the women's basketball team will travel to the State of Alaska to take on The University of Alaska Anchorage on Thursday, Jan. 30 followed by the The University of Alaska on Saturday, Feb. 1.
