"I am very happy for Kevin, he deserves this record." CWU head coach
Greg Sparling said. "I just wish we could give it a proper celebration by bring home a win."

Eleven first-half turnovers and hot three-point shooting by the Clan plagued Central Washington in the opening period. Simon Fraser connected on 8-of-16 first-half treys and was 23-of-43 overall. In fact, five different Clan players made three-pointers in the opening half with Sango Niang making 3-of-4.
"Our first-half turnovers really prevented us from executing offensively and they scored too many points in transition." Sparling added. "To their credit they hit a lot of the shots they took, but we handed them far too many chances to score."
Early in the half the Wildcats led 14-5 but the Clan would answer by going on a 14-4 run to take a 19-18 advantage with 10:57 left.
MARK MCLAUGHLIN was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and the free throw line in the first half and led the Wildcats with 15 first-half points. But it wasn't enough as Simon Fraser held a 58-39 advantage going into intermission.
Simon Fraser would increase its advantage early in the second-half as they led 78-54 with 11:31 remaining in the contest. The Wildcats called upon a full court press where they were able to cut the SFU lead to just 11 with just over five minutes left in regulation.
Russell Sparked a CWU comeback by hitting three of his four treys in the half and after a couple made free throws the Wildcats trailed 92-84 with 4:04 left in the contest. The teams exchanged baskets on back to back possessions and Simon Fraser still held an eight-point advantage until McLaughlin hit a big three-pointer with under three minutes left to cut the SFU lead to 97-91.
But the Wildcat were unable to get a stop as the Clan continued to score as the home team ended the game with the final 112-99 victory.Â
