UW Invitational results
SEATTLE (Jan. 31) — The seven members of the Central Washington University's men and women's indoor track and field team, who competed at the University of Washington (UW) Invitational in Seattle Friday and Saturday, all had consistent performances. That was the assessment of their head coach,
Kevin Adkisson.
Adkisson pointed out that those who took part in the men's and women's weight throws all recorded season bests or personal records, including sophomore
Armando Tafoya, from George, who set a new personal best (56-05 1/4), one was particularly important.
"It was a small PR, but that got him up and over the [NCAA Division II] provisional [qualifying] mark by a centimeter of two," Adkisson added. "That was nice, continued progress for him."
Junior sprinter
Kent McKinney Jr., from Seattle, also ran two more sub-seven second times (6.96 and 6.95) in the men's 60-meter dash.
"He looked real solid after he took the week off last week, so that got him going," said CWU head track and field coach
Kevin Adkisson.
CWU's next action will be at the Washington State University Cougar Indoor in Pullman, Wash., next week.
Adkisson says the goal now is to, "keep them [team members] healthy and keep them moving forward as we start to zero in on conference a little bit more. Especially this week, as we get the whole team back in action."
The conference indoor season concludes with the GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held February 20-21 at the Idaho Center in Nampa.
