ELLENSBURG, WA - The Wildcats delivered an impressive showing on their home track this week at the GNAC Combined Events Championship, recording four podium finishes at the Recreation Sports Complex and building momentum heading into next week's GNAC Outdoor Championships meet.

HOW IT HAPPENEND:
In the men's decathlon,
Drew Klein paced the Wildcats with a second-place finish after compiling 6,908 points across the two-day competition. Klein's consistent performances throughout the 10-event challenge kept him in contention from start to finish and secured the runner-up spot. His highlights came with event victories in the long jump with a jump of 7.07m, discus with a throw of 38.55m, and pole vault with a vault of 4.27m.

Josh Boast also turned in a strong all-around effort, finishing third overall with 6,496 points to give the Wildcats two of the top three finishers in the event. He earned an event victory in the 400 with a time of 48.44.
The Wildcats were equally strong in the women's heptathlon, where
Ellie DeGroot earned second place with 4,952 points. DeGroot put together a balanced performance across all seven events to claim the silver-medal position. She posted three event victories: 100 hurdles with a time of 14.38, shot put with a throw of 11.88m, and in the 200 dash with a time of 25.07.
Carley Huber joined her on the podium with a third-place finish, totaling 4,844 points and adding another top three results for the Wildcats. She earned the 800 victory with a time of 2:19.32.
As a team, the Wildcats topped the competition on the men's side, finishing first overall with 17 points. The women's team also had a strong showing, tying for first place with Alaska Anchorage, each scoring 14 points in the combined team standings.
With strong individual and team performances across both men's and women's, the Wildcats made a major statement at their home facility as they continue building momentum heading into the make-or-break portion of the season.
