SEATTLE (Feb. 15) — Three Central Washington University indoor track and field athletes met or improved on their NCAA Division II national provisional qualifying standards at the University of Washington Husky Classic, Friday and Saturday, and UW Indoor Open, Sunday.

"It was a pretty successful weekend overall," said CWU head track and field coach Kevin Adkisson.

The Wildcat standouts included Dan Eggleston, who ran in the 5,000 meters Friday, coming in with a time of 17:25.63 to finish sixth in her section.

"It also bumped her from No. 6 to No. 4 on our all-time Top 10 indoor and outdoor marks," Adkisson adds of Eggleston's mark, which is also a new personal record for her.

Sprinter Kent McKinney Jr. also met the national provision standard qualifying standard, while setting a new PR, in the 60-meter dash on Saturday, running a time of 6.86, to place fourth overall.

"That was like .6 seconds improvement, which is really a big chunk [of time] for a race that short," Adkisson points out.

On Sunday, Tayler Fettig finished second in the women's high jump, with a leap of 5-08.00.

"She finally got the big high jump that we'd been looking for," Adkisson said. "That puts her up in a safer spot, for sure, as far as the top 16 and making it to nationals, and getting into the zone that is more normal for her."

Megan Rogers also set a PR in the 3,000 meters on Sunday, finishing 16th overall and breaking her previous mark by about 18 seconds, with a time of 10:13.09, her second PR run this indoor season

"She had a huge race," Adkisson acknowledged. "That actually puts her on our Top-10 [list] all-time for indoor and outdoor."

Overall, more than 40 Wildcats participated in the three-day competition in Seattle. Up next for CWU is the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, which are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, at the Idaho Center in Nampa.
