ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Feb. 24) -- The Central Washington University men's basketball team has already clinched a spot in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament, but its seed is still undecided as they head into the final week of regular season play.

The Wildcats (17-6, 12-6 GNAC) currently sit in 4th place in the GNAC, one game behind Alaska and Alaska Anchorage who CWU happens to play this week on Feb. 25 and 27, respectively.

"This is a very big week for us," CWU Head Coach Greg Sparling said.  "Not only for conference positioning, but for confidence heading into the tournament."

With two wins, the Wildcats can potentially earn the second seed in the GNAC tournament, depending on the result of Alaska and Alaska Anchorage's matchup with Northwest Nazarene this week.  Central Washington can also fall as far as the fifth seed in the tournament.

"All we can do is take care of business on our end this week," Sparling said.  "There is such a big logjam right now, and if we spend too much time trying to figure out the possibilities we can lose sight of what is in front of us.  We just need to go out and play our best basketball and let things fall where they are going to fall."

Alaska (19-7, 13-5 GNAC) is coming off of a week where they beat top-ranked Western Oregon by nine at home.  The Nanooks have won their last three games and six of their past seven.

Alaska Anchorage (20-9, 13-5 GNAC) is 4-4 in their last eight games, most recently a 64-58 loss to Western Oregon.  The Seawolves feature one of the nations top scoring threats in Sekou Wiggs who is averaging 23.6 points per game, which is tops in the GNAC and 11th nationally.

Saturday's matchup with Alaska Anchorage will also be senior night for Devin Matthews, Gary Jacobs, Joseph Stroud, Joey Roppo and A.J. Maxwell, who will be playing their final collegiate game inside Nicholson Pavilion.  Saturday's tip will be at 7:30 p.m.
