Nolte Becomes All-Time Points Leader, Wildcats Fall, 4-1 to SFU

BURNABY, B.C. (Oct. 14) – Mackenzie Nolte became the Wildcats' all-time points leader, but the Central Washington University women's soccer team fell to Great Northwest Athletic Conference foe Simon Fraser University, 4-1.

The Wildcats are now 1-9-3 overall, with a GNAC record of 0-6-2.  The Clan improve to 6-7-0 and 4-5-0 in GNAC play.

"Extremely disappointed in how we put our product out there today," CWU Head Coach Michael Farrand said afterward.  "We gave up the early goal and had to fight back all game.  After the effort we put in against SPU, it's a let down for us."

Simon Fraser gained an advantage of the scoreboard early in the first half.

In the third minute Christina Dixon found the back of the net, giving Simon Fraser a 1-0 lead.

The Wildcats earned a corner in the sixth minute and Nolte fired a shot that nearly missed the far post.

In the 11th minute, Sophia Keenan sent a volley goalward that was stymied by Priya Sandhu.

Both sides were relatively quiet until the 27th minute, when Lexsi Manning's shot pinged off the crossbar and a rebound was sent over the bar by Emmi Seelbach.

After 45 minutes, the score stood at 1-0 Simon Fraser.

Simon Fraser expanded its lead in the 60th minute.  A free kick was sent into the 18 by Jenna Baxter, where it was met by a header from Emma Pringle for a 2-0 lead.

The 66th minute saw another attempt at goal for Simon Fraser.  Jenna Baxter's corner was headed goalward by Katelyn Erhardsen, giving the Clan a 3-0 lead.

The Wildcats struck for their lone goal in the 75th minute.  Nolte took a pass from Kylee Dillon and fired it home from 30 yards out.

Not only did Nolte become the all-time points leader in CWU women's soccer history, but she also tied the career high for goals (27).  She has scored seven or more goals in three of her four seasons at CWU.  Today's goal ties her career high for goals in a season (8).  With eight goals this season, Nolte is currently 10th in CWU history for goals in a season. Nolte passed Judy Koenigs for most career points.  Koenigs played from 1996-98 and tallied 65 points (27G-11A-65P).  Nolte is also ninth in career points per game (0.96).  She also tied Koenigs for career game-winning goals (8) and goals (27).

The Clan added a fourth goal in the 84th minute off a 20-yard shot from Erhardsen.

The Wildcats are back in action on Thursday (Oct.19) at home as they take on Northwest Nazarene University.  Kick-off is slated for 3:00 p.m. at the CWU Soccer Complex.

"We need to regroup and move on to NNU," Farrand finished.  "We need to take steps forward, not back."
