ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Nov. 29) – The Central Washington University women's basketball team opens conference play on the road against Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks.

SCOUTING ALASKA ANCHORAGE
After a deep run in the NCAA West Regional last season, the Seawolves are at it again. Ryan McCarthy's team has opened the 2017-18 campaign with a 6-0 start.
Hannah Wandersee's 15.5 points per game leads the Seawolves's scoring efforts, but Rodericka Ware (15.4 PPG) is only behind Wandersee by the slimmest of margins. Shelby Cloninger is also scoring in double-digits, averaging 12 points a game. Anchorage averages nearly 83 points per game, while holding their opposition to 55.
Defensively, Wandersee finds herself atop the leadboards once more. She leads her team in rebounding, pulling in seven rebounds per game. Cloninger sits second in rebounding, hauling in just over six boards per game. The Seawolves are outrebounding their opposition 40-38 on average, while also hauling in 140 rebounds offensively.
SCOUTING ALASKA FAIRBANKS
The Nanooks sit at 2-2 on the season after splitting last week in the Seawolf Hoops Classic. They recorded a 73-29 victory over Holy Names, but fell to Western State Colorado 49-41. The Nanooks have only scored more than 56 points once this season.
Lexi Carpenter is averaging a team-high 13.5 points per game and is the only player averaging double-digit scoring. Fairbanks is averaging just 54.75 points per game, but they have held their opposition to 47.5 points a game.
Ashlie Blackburn leads the Nanooks in rebounding, averaging nine boards per game. Of her 36 rebounds, only eight have been offensive. The Nanooks are out rebounding their opposition 45-39 on average.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats have won their last two games, both at home.
Jasmin Edwards led the Wildcats over Eastern Oregon last Thursday, with 21 points and 10 assists.
Taylor Baird (17),
Sadie Mensing (15), and
Taylor Shaw (10) all scored 10 points or more.
Then, against Pacific Lutheran, Kassidy Malcom's double-double (11 points, 12 rebounds) led the Wildcats to a 74-55 victory. Alongside Malcom,
Alexis Pana (14), Edwards (13), Mensing (11), and
Kaelie Flores (10) all scored in double-digits.
