Women's Basketball Closes 2017 At Home Against Concordia (Ore.)

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Dec. 28) – In their final game of 2017, the Central Washington University women's basketball team hosts Great Northwest Athletic Conference foe Concordia University.

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
The 6-4 Cavaliers have struggled away from the friendly confines of LCEF Court, posting an 0-3 record away from home.  Their last loss came to GNAC foe Northwest Nazarene, 85-59 in Nampa.
 
In three conference matchups, the Cavaliers have taken a 1-2 record.  Within conference play, Danielle Hartzog leads the Cavs in scoring, averaging 19 points.  Kizzah Maltezeo (10.3), Bailey Cartwright (9.7), and Erin Higbie (9.3) check-in behind Hartzog in conference scoring.  In overall scoring, it is a similar affair.  Hartzog leads Concordia, averaging 14.6 points per game.  Cartwright is first behind at 12.2, while Maltezo rounds out the double-digit scorers at 10.5.  As a team, the Cavaliers are averaging 67 points per game, while holding opponents to 61.  In conference, however, the Cavs are being outscored 72-61.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats strong first half in their last outing against Western Oregon gave CWU a 72-62 victory over their conference opponent.  The Wildcats controlled the floor from the first whistle.  In just the first half alone, Central Washington racked up 10 steals and shot over 53 percent from the floor.   The Wildcats scored 24 points in the paint, 20 points off of turnovers, and the bench chipped in for 15 points.  The Wolves held the lead only once during the contest, a 4-2 advantage just over a minute into the first quarter.
 
Jasmin Edwards led the Wildcats with 18 points, 11 coming in the first half of play.  She added five assists, three rebounds, and four steals to her night as well.  In addition, she went 6-for-8 from the floor and 6-for-7 from the charity stripe.
