Sims and Snashall Tabbed to the Preseason All-GNAC Team

PORTLAND, Ore – Central Washington University Women's Basketball senior forwards Capri Sims and Fiona Snashall were honored by the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, being named to the 2026-27 Preseason All-GNAC Team voted on by the GNAC Head Coaches, the conference announced Thursday afternoon.

QUOTING CWU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH RANDI RICHARDSON:

"Capri is one of the strongest players we have had in terms of consistency, mentally, and emotionally over a three-year span from freshman year to the start of her senior year and that consistency in which she has shown up with has led her to so much personal growth but also earning the respect of everyone in our program. I'm excited for Capri's senior year and the opportunity which she has earned from a team, leadership, and personal standpoint. I know she has put the work in and is ready to take those natural and earned steps forward. I'm happy our counterparts feel the same way. It is a well-deserved recognition.

Fiona has done a phenomenal job for a transfer to come in and immerse herself in our standards and values. This has led her to having a massive impact on our program on and off the floor. She has gained the trust and respect from everyone and has stepped up big time as a leader. I am so excited for her to continue to grow in her comfortability and confidence to come into her own. She has done the work and is ready to continue to take those steps forward in unlocking her potential which is limitless. This is a well-deserved recognition."

Sims, a native of Post Falls, Idaho, grabbed Second Team All-GNAC last season and surpassed 1,000 career points during the Wildcats NCAA Division II Tournament first round victory over Montana State Billings last March. She has averaged 11.2 points per game and pairs that with 8.8 rebounds per contest. She has also added 1.7 assists per game and has totaled 52 blocks and 80 steals. She's been highly efficient from the floor, shooting a career percentage of 55.3 percent and has added 24.2 percent from three and 67.4 percent at the free-throw line.

Snashall, a native of La Cañada, Calif., also earned Second Team All-GNAC honors a season ago. She made the most of her first season with the 'Cats after transferring from fellow NCAA Division II school Regis, averaging 10.4 points per game and came just shy of averaging a double-double earning 9.8 rebounds per game. She added 2.5 assists per game while tallying 35 blocks and 35 steals while shooting 45.3 percent from the floor, 36.7 percent from three, and 64.8 percent at the free-throw line. She surpassed 20 rebounds twice during the season, earning 22 rebounds against Simon Fraser, then added 23 rebounds against Western Oregon.

The Wildcats begin their season hosting the CWU D2 Tip-Off Classic Halloween weekend. They play Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday, Oct. 30, Midwestern State on Halloween, and wrap up the weekend against UT Tyler on Nov. 1 with all three games taking place at 1:00 p.m. from inside Nicholson Arena.
