Men's Basketball Travels To Nampa for Fairfield Inn Tournament

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University men's basketball travels to Nampa, Idaho to take part in the Fairfield Inn Tournament.

"We learned a lot this past weekend in our first two games," CWU Head Coach Brandon Rinta said. "This coming weekend will give us a chance to improve on some the breakdowns we were having. I thought our effort has been good. The challenge now is to be able to find the level of energy we will need to be successful on the road."

The Javelinas are 2-0 on the season with wins over South Dakota Mines and Chadron State.  Both of their victories were one-point affairs.  Kingsville finished last season with a 12-15 record and an 8-10 mark in the Lone Star Conference.  In neutral site games, the Javelinas were 1-1 last season.
 
Through two games, Tre Flowers leads the Javelinas in scoring, averaging 13 points per game.  Daniel Severo is averaging 9.5 points per game, while Sammy Brooks is scoring at a clip of 8.5 points per game.
 
Kyren Block has a team high nine rebounds.  He has played in just one of the team's first two games, recording all nine boards in 18 minutes.  Dayante McClellan has also played one game and recorded seven rebounds.

The Cougars are 0-2 on the season and finished last year's campaign with a 6-22 record.
 
Elijah Oliver leads the Cougars' offense through two games, averaging 15 points.  He has played just 29 minutes and come off the bench in both games.  Justin Engesser is just behind, however, at 14 points per game.  He is averaging 35.5 minutes per game after the first two games.  Essenger is 4-for-11 from beyond the three-point line, while Oliver is 5-for-14. 
 
Engesser leads Colorado Christian's rebounding efforts, hauling in 11.5 rebounds per game.  He has only recorded one offensive rebound however.
 
The Cougars are being outscored, on average, 86-67.  They are also being outrebounded 45-38.5.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats split their first twp games of the season during the DII West Region Crossover.  They defeated Cal State Monterey Bay, 93-73, before falling to Cal State San Bernardino, 80-71. 
 
Jeryn Lucas led the Wildcats' scoring with 24 points.  Xavier Smith chipped in 14.
