QUOTABLE
"We're extremely grateful and privileged to be able to round out our regular season with a tough match against an athletic and skilled Life University Team." Said CWU Head Coach
Trevor Richards. "They've been a powerhouse for years and we know we will have our work cut out for us on both sides of the ball. The key will be containing their speed, especially on the outside, asserting ourselves at the contact point and controlling the set-piece as much as we can. We expect a brutal contest between two well matched programs that have a lot to play for. We're excited for the challenge in front of us; it should be a great weekend."
SCOUTING THE RUNNING EAGLES
The Running Eagles are currently 1-2, dropping both loses to the 'Cats last week opponent, Lindenwood University. The Running Eagles only win of the season so far was last weekend against the Orlando Rugby Club, who were previously 3-0. The Running Eagles won that match 52-17. The Running Eagles showed strong offense prowess against Orlando as seven different players were able to record tries. The 'Cats will have to be wary of a speedy offense including Autumn Locicero who posted two tries to her name in the Running Eagles win.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE 'CATS
Last weekend the 'Cats fell to Lindenwood University at home, 62-12. The 'Cats are 3-1 on the year following last weekends loss.
The 'Cats have talented players on both ends including
Sammy Stern and
Tessa Hann who both lead the team in tries. Hann and Stern have both earned themselves hat tricks in their strong wins over Brigham Young University and Grand Canyon University. The 'Cats have others included in their powerful offense such as
Philomena Namosimalua,
Keia Mae Sagapolu,
Mikayla Roberts,
Heaven Bruce,
Haley Abeyta,
Spencer Boldt and
Jherish Moananu who have all recorded tries for the Wildcats.
Jherish Moananu is a force up front on defense. Her strong and physical play style will make it difficult for the opponents to create offensive momentum.
Kai Brandt-Templeton is the 'Cats secret weapon at the kicking tee, in which she has completed 18/21 of her attempted conversions. The 'Cats will definitely look to her to bring in the additional points after successful tries.
CLOSING OUT THE SPRING
This weekend will be the final game for the Wildcats Women's Rugby before they prepare for the fall 2021 season.
