Box Score LACEY, Wash. – The Central Washington University women's soccer team improved to 2-0-0 on the year after a 2-0 win over Saint Martin's University (1-9-0).
"We are excited because we played a fairly solid game compared to last time out," CWU Head Coach
Michael Farrand said. "We were consistent from the back third to the front third. Jax Farmen was awesome out of the back, Megan's [Fox] leadership and voice out of the back was awesome. Meagan[Kelly] found Grace [Jackson] with a nice ball that she finished in the first half. We played very well through the second half and created some good chances. Sophia's [Keenan] goal gave us some breathing room. We've scored six goals with six different goal scorers, it's a good step forward for us as we take on Seattle Pacific next week."
The first 24 minutes of play were quiet, as the Wildcats and Saints managed just three shots total. The Saints were the first on the shot chart, missing wide right, before
Bella Brown put the 'Cats' first shot on the board in the 8
th minute. Central's second shot came in the 10
th minute with Mackinzie Packwood missing just left of frame.

Grace Jackson in the 25
th minute of play, when Jackson buried her first collegiate goal for a 1-0 lead.
Saint Martin's yearned for an equalizer, firing off a pair of shots in quick succession in the s7th minute.
Megan Fox turned the first shot from Taylor Goodpaster aside before Goodpaster sent the second-chance effort over the crossbar.
Packwood found her way towards goal again in the 28
th minute, firing a low shot on frame, but it was met by Ali Campigotto.
After 45 minutes of play, Jackson's marker was the only offensive output.
Central made a goalkeeper change for the second half, handing the duties to
Liz Canton.
Just two minutes into the second stanza, Packwood fired another shot but Campigotto was there to make the save once more. In the 51
st minute,
Paige Devine tried her hand at goal and was rebuffed by the Saints' keeper.
Canton made her first stop of the contest in the 54
th minute, parrying a shot from Kiersten Madsen.
Sophia Keenan made it 2-0 Wildcats at the completion of the 58
th minute. She let loose a shot from deep, curling it into the top corner for the insurance marker.
After 10 minutes without a shot, Packwood went at the Saints' net again. She sent a low shot to Campigotto's left, but the Saints' keeper was able to keep the score at 2-0. Her next shot in the 72
nd minute was blocked by a defender.
Finn Sprankle found the shot chart in the 75
th minute, forcing Campigotto to make the save. A pair of shots from Saint Martin's in the 79
th and 80
th minutes went wide right of the post. The Saints had another chance in the 83
rd minute, but a shot from Kendall Kemp caromed off a defender. Less than a minute later, Keenan found herself in possession again and fired a shot to the upper left corner but Campigotto parried it for the save.
Payton Aselton missed wide right in the 87
th minute for the Saints as they tried to fight back from a 2-0 deficit. Just 40 seconds later, Jackson fired a shot on frame but it was corralled by Campigotto.
Saint Martin's managed one more chance, a corner kick in the 89
th minute, but they were unable to put together a chance at goal.
Both Fox and Canton made a save each in frame for the Wildcats. Packwood led the Wildcats' offense with five shots, three on goal. Both Keenan and Jackson finished with two shots a piece, all four shots were on goal.
Central Washington is back in action on Saturday (May 1) as they travel to Seattle Pacific University. Match time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
