ELLENSBURG, Wash.— The Central Washington University Baseball team swept the Saints on senior day to clinch the series 3-1 and finish their regular season with a 16-12 overall record.

GAME ONE | CENTRAL WASHINGTON 5 - SAINT MARTIN'S 4
The Wildcats got off to a quick start trying to build momentum after yesterdays game two loss.
Zach Berryman started off hot with a leadoff single to right field.
Mitch Lesmeister kept the action going with his own single to left field to give the 'Cats runners on first and third with one down.
Austin Ohland made a productive out with a ground ball to the left side to score Berryman. The Saints fought back early in the top of the second with a three-run home run to take the lead. The Saint led the 'Cats 3-1 after two.
The third starting off with action as
Zach Berryman earned an outfield assist with a strong throw to cut down the runner at the plate. The next half inning Berryman led it off with a single. Back-to-back walks and a single loaded the bases for
Michael Peter to walk in Berryman, the Wildcats trailed 3-2 after three.
Adam Fahsel kicked off the fourth inning with a triple to right field. On the first pitch of the next at bat
Zach Berryman launched his first collegiate home run off of the left field scoreboard to retake the lead 4-3.
It became a pitching duel as both teams struggled to find any momentum on offense. In the top of the seventh the Saints found life with a pinch-hit solo home run to lead off the inning and tie it back up at four each. In the top of the ninth the Saints had a chance to take the lead but a beautiful relay from
Riley Wingerson and
Michael Peter to
Jake Engel cut down the would've-been lead run at the plate for out number three. The Wildcats applied pressure quickly in the bottom of the ninth with a leadoff single from
Zach Berryman. After a textbook bunt from
Michael Copeland the Saints decided to give
Mitch Lesmeister the free base to keep him from doing any damage as he was already three for three. On the next at-bat
Austin Ohland decided to swing at the first pitch and a bloop single through the right side aided by an error from the right fielder allowed Berryman to score and the Wildcats walked it off 5-4.
GAME TWO | CENTRAL WASHINGTON 11 - SAINT MARTIN'S 5
The Wildcats came out in game two with a bit of sluggish start. The Saints posed a threat in the second with runners on the corners.
Reid Rasmussen and
Austin Ohland were able to cleanly field the safety squeeze and cut down the Saints at the plate. In the bottom of the second
Austin Ohland was able to swipe home on a ground ball by
Trevor Tripoli for the first run of the game. The Wildcats led 1-0.
The Saints started off the third hot with a lead off double. After two quick outs a miscue by the Wildcats on an infield fly allowed the Saints to score their first run of game, the Saints had tied it 1-1. The Wildcats got going in the bottom of third with an error by the third baseman.
Michael Copeland singled to the right side making it first and third for the 'Cats.
Michael Copeland scored on a passed ball and Mitch Lesmiester singled his next at bat to keep runners on the corner for the 'Cats.
Austin Ohland bounced one off of the left center wall to score two more for the 'Cats.
Tyler McClain took the first pitch 380' over left center to tack on two more. The Wildcats led 6-1 after three.
The 'Cats were right back at it in the fourth.
Austin Ohland hit his second two-run double off of the left center field fence to plate two more.
Tyler McClain followed him up with a sacrifice fly to deep center to bring in another insurance run.
Trevor Tripoli bounced one over the center field fence to plate the final insurance run of the inning. The Wildcats had a miscue on the defense and the Saints scored another, the Wildcats led it 10-2. Freshman
Divine Ayemere in his first collegiate at-bat hit a single to the right side as the 'Cats press to add a few more.
Austin Ohland hit his third double of the day, followed up by an RBI single from
Michael Peter and the Wildcats added one more run, 11-2. The Saints tacked on three in the top of the seventh but fell at the hands of
JJ Asinas. The Wildcats won 11-5.
The Wildcats will be moving on to the GNAC Conference Tournament hosted by Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho on May 20
th-21
st.
