ELLENSBURG, Wash.—After picking up 20 rebounds in each of Central Washington's wins last week, junior center Samantha Bowman has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Bowman, a 6-3 junior from Zillah, Washington, has earned her fourth Player of the Week award this season. This is the sixth time a Wildcat has held the award through the first thirteen weeks of the season.
 
"Sam had another great week and was a big contributor to our success," said Central Washington Head Coach Randi Richardson-Thornley. "Her presence on the boards is an absolute game changer for us and a big reason we were able to pull out both wins down the stretch. I'm happy for her to get this recognition from the conference and it's well deserved."
 
In Central Washington's 72-60 win on the road at Simon Fraser, Bowman scored 20 points and grabbed 20 rebounds alongside 3 steals and 2 assists. The stat line marks Bowman's third 20-20 game thus far this season.
 
In Central Washington's 71-65 win at home over Northwest Nazarene Bowman scored 25 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, and picked up 4 blocks, 4 steals, and 4 assists. Bowman's efforts off the glass helped the Wildcats pick up their first win over the Nighthawks since January 9^th, 2018.
 
After this weekend's games Bowman now sits alone atop all NCAA levels averaging 15.6 rebounds per game. Bowman also sits 12^th in all of DII averaging 2.57 blocks per game, and she is knotted in a three-way tie for sixth in all of DII in double-doubles with 11. Bowman holds the most 20 rebound performances in all of DII thus far this season with four.
 
Bowman is currently fourth in the GNAC averaging 16.3 points per game.
 
In Tuesday's win over Simon Fraser, Bowman became the 10^th player in program history to eclipse 500 career rebounds.
