ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University volleyball team continues to stay hot, defeating the Western Oregon Wolves in straight sets on Saturday (25-22, 25-13, 29-27).
 
Ashley Kaufman led the charge, recording a team-high 14 kills, adding 13 assists and an attacking percentage of .414. 
Tia Andaya had a strong day, registering eight kills, a team-leading 23 assists, five blocks and six digs.
 
Kylie Thorne had nine kills and 14 digs on the day. 
Hannah Stires led the team in digs (16). 
Emma Daoud-Hebert had a six-kill, four-block performance.
 
Neither team grabbed a big lead early in the first set with the score at 13-12. The 'Cats took seven of the next 10 points, capped off by a Kaufman kill. But, the Wolves fought back, cutting the lead to one points at 21-22.
 
Both teams were neck-and-neck down the stretch but a clutch Thorne kill clinched the first set by a score of 25-22.
 
The second set was CWU's best as the Crimson and Black jumped out to an early 7-1 lead. They continued to keep their foot on the pedal, expanding the lead to 19-8.
 
There was no chance the Wildcats were going to squander this lead and a 
Sydney Remsberg ace won the 'Cats the final points of set two 25-13.
 
Set three turned into an absolute battle. At 10-15, CWU slowly started to claw back into the set. At 20-23, it was time for the 'Cats to rattle off some timely kills.
 
And they did just that, taking five of the next seven points to even the score up at 25-25. Both teams traded the next four points and the score was 27-27.
 
A kill from Andaya followed by a set error from Western Oregon clinched the third set by a score of 29-27.
 
The Wildcats (12-7, 7-4) will travel to Seattle Pacific to face the Falcons on Thursday, Oct. 20, and MSU Billings to battle against the Yellowjackets on Saturday, Oct. 22.
