ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University volleyball team lost another five-set match to the Seattle Pacific Falcons on Thursday (25-15, 23-25, 16-25, 25-22, 14-16).

"Lots of ebbs and flows in this one. We gave ourselves a chance but it came down to errors," Head Coach
Mario Andaya said. "We have to rebound and get ready for Billings."
Tia Andaya led the Wildcats with a triple-double (10 kills, 30 assists, 15 digs).
Emma Daoud-Hebert logged 10 kills with nine blocks.

Kylie Thorne led the 'Cats in kills (14) and added 12 digs.
Ashley Kaufman registered 13 kills and 11 digs.
Marianna Payne had 12 kills, six blocks and six digs.
Hannah Stires recorded 26 digs, a team-high.

Neither team had a stellar hitting percentage as CWU logged .153 and SPU had .125.

The Wildcats started hot, jumping out to a 7-2 lead in the first set. At 11-9, CWU took eight of the next nine points to make it a 19-9 lead. The 'Cats had no issue closing the first set out as a Kaufman ace clinched the final point of set one 25-15.

SPU got their stuff together in the second set, as they stopped CWU from taking an early lead. The teams traded points through the early portions of set two. About halfway through the set, the score was 11-13. The teams continued to trade points.

Down five points at 16-21, the Wildcats came back by taking seven of the next eight points to make it 23-22. But, the Falcons came up clutch, rattling off the final three points as the 'Cats dropped set two 23-25.

The third set was the most dominant of the night for the Falcons. The Wildcats fell behind early 3-11. The team attempted to battle back, but SPU limited their mistakes and didn't let CWU go on a run. The Wildcats dropped set three 16-25.

The fourth set was another tight battle. At 10-7, the Crimson and Black held a small lead. Seattle Pacific kept it close as the score was 22-22 late in the set. CWU needed to execute to stay in the match and that's exactly what they did. Kills from Andaya followed by a Kaufman ace clinched the final points of set four as the Wildcats won 25-22.

Entering the fifth and decisive set, CWU jumped out to a 6-0 lead. But the Falcons responded almost immediately, closing the score to 7-6. Eventually, the score was tied at 10-10. At 14-14, the Falcons capitalized on mistakes from the Wildcats.

An Andaya serve went out of bounds, making it 14-15. On the next play, the ball unfortunately found the ground between a few Wildcats, gifting SPU the final point as CWU lost 14-16.

The Wildcats drop to 12-8, 7-5. They head to MSU Billings for a showdown against the Yellowjackets on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 1:00 p.m.
