ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University volleyball team lost in straight sets to the #9 Alaska Anchorage Seawolves (20-25, 20-25, 16-25) Thursday night at the SURC.
 
The Wildcats had a rough night offensively as the Seawolves held them to a 0.56 attacking percentage. Alaska Anchorage had a combined 20 blocks on the night.
 
Emma Daoud-Hebert led the 'Cats in kills (8) and added two blocks. 
Tia Andaya had a 7-kill, 15-assist performance. 
Hannah Stires led the team in digs (19). 
Sydney Remsberg posted 11 assists. 
Ashley Kaufman logged six kills and 10 digs on the night.
 
Leading the Seawolves was Eve Stephens who logged a team-high 11 kills and 10 assists to go along with six blocks. Ellen Floyd led AAU in assists (25). Isabel Evans led the team in blocks (7).
 
The 'Cats fell behind early 5-10 in the first set. Kills by 
Kylie Thorne and Daoud-Hebert helped CWU cut the deficit to 9-12. But, the Seawolves responded with a four-point run to expand their lead again.
 
At 14-24, CWU went on a six-point run, but their comeback fell short and they lost set one 20-25.
 
More of the same to start the second set as the 'Cats fell behind 5-10 again. The Seawolves continued their offensive momentum, almost doubling their lead to 11-20. The Wildcats took nine of the next 12 points, clawing back to 20-23. But, the Seawolves hit their stride, scoring the next two points, closing the set two 20-25.
 
Similar to the first two sets, the 'Cats struggled to find their command early. Down 4-8, CWU took five of the next eight points, bringing the score within two at 9-11. The Crimson & Black couldn't string together any momentum for the rest of the stretch and lost the third set 16-25.
 
The Wildcats (9-7, 4-4) will look to bounce back when they face Alaska Fairbanks (13-7, 3-5) on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1:00 p.m. in the SURC.
