WICHITA, Kans. - Competing in the first indoor meet of the season,
Braydon Maier and
McCall DeChenne of the Central Washington University track and field team finished sixth in their respective competitions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Maier competed in the men's indoor heptathlon, finishing with 4,323 points across seven events including the 60-meter race, long jump, shot put, high jump, 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1000 meters race.

"It felt good to compete indoors for the first time since 2019," Maier said. "I shook the dust off."

Maier finished first in the pole vault event, and ended up second in the long jump and shot put events.

DeChenne competed in the women's indoor pentathlon, finishing with 3,114 points after five events including the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and 800 meters race.

"It felt good to get the first one in the books," DeChenne said. "I know what I need to work on."

DeChenne finished first in the 800 meters race with a time of 2:28.53.

UP NEXT
The Wildcats will travel to the Spokane Invite, hosted by Spokane Community College, hosted on Dec. 10 at The Podium in Spokane, Wash.
