Wildcats Fall Twice to Coyotes

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.—Central Washington baseball falls to 2-4 on the season after losing back-to-back games against Cal State San Bernardino 12-8 and 6-3. Friday's loses drops the Wildcats to 2-4 on the year, matching the Coyotes in overall record.

Four different Wildcats made use of the long-ball today, with senior Austin Hauck leading the way with two. Friday's five home runs now brings Central's season total to six, over half of the teams 11 home runs hit all last season.

"It was a rough day," said Central Washington Head Coach Desi Storey. "Our offense is staying pretty consistent, but we need to eliminate the bad innings on the mound. Credit to the guys as they kept working hard, and we just have to take care of what we can control."

Hauck, a 5-10 shortstop who joined the Wildcats from Hofstra University, went 5-8 today with two home runs. Hauck also tallied three runs and two runs batted in.

Center fielder Adam Fahsel continued to see the ball excellent at the plate. Fahsel, a 6-0 outfielder from Bonney Lake High School, went 4-8 today with one home run, three runs batted in, two runs, and a walk.

While the Wildcats kept pace with the 'Yotes in game one with 13 hits to their 14, it was the two errors by Central that became the difference maker allowing three unearned runs to the 'Yotes one.

The Wildcats dropped the opening game to the Coyotes, 12-8.

Jake Bradley and the Wildcats pitching staff bounced back early in game two. Bradley, a right handed pitcher who transferred from St. Cloud State, allowed just four hits alongside six strikeouts in the first four frames of game two.

The 'Yotes offense answered quickly, putting up three runs in back-to-back innings to close out game two.

Central was unable to muster a hit in the final inning and fell to the Coyotes 6-3 in seven innings.

The Wildcats and Coyotes continue action tomorrow, February 12th, with another doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. PST.
