Wildcats Fall to Warriors in Series Opener

LEWISTON, Idaho.— Central Washington fell to Lewis Clark State 10-2 on Friday. The loss drops the Wildcats to 4-6 overall with three games remaining in the series.

"It was a tough day overall for us," said head coach Desi Storey. "Jake had a great outing, but we just couldn't hit the ball today."

Jake Bradley held the Wildcats within three through six innings. Bradley, a 6-3 right-handed pitcher who transferred from St. Cloud State, scattered just eight hits on 90 pitches through his six innings of work. Bradley also struck out three while not giving up a walk.

Austin Ohland and Trenton Love provided the only hits of the day for Central. Ohland, a 6-1 catcher from Maple Valley, Washington, doubled in his first at-bat in the top of the second. Love, a 5-9 infielder from Richland, Wash, singled in the top of the eighth after a leadoff walk.

The Wildcats only two scores of the day came in eighth. A ground ball to the infield from Adam Fahsel allowed Charlie Larson, who reached on a leadoff walk, to come around and score the first run for CWU. In the following at-bat Love, who reached on a single earlier in the inning, came around to score on a wild-pitch from Greg Blackman.

While Central only managed two hits today, they drew six walks and forced the Warriors to make plays only striking out seven times this afternoon.

Trent Sellers was awarded the win and Greg Blackman the save for the Warriors while Bradley takes the loss for the Wildcats.

Outfielder Nick Seamons had a day at the plate for the Warriors, leading the offense going 3-4 with two doubles, one run, and four runs batted in.

The Wildcats and Warriors continue the series tomorrow, Saturday, February 19th, at 12:00 p.m. Tomorrow will be a doubleheader with the second game scheduled for 3:00 p.m., or roughly thirty-five minutes after game one.
