ELLENSBURG, Wash.—Central Washington's Kassidy Malcolm has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) 2021-22 Academic All-America® women's basketball team for NCAA Division II, the organization announced on Wednesday.
 
Malcolm, a senior from Ellensburg, is just the fourth Wildcat student-athlete to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-America® team member, and the first non-football player to be so honored.
 
Additionally, Malcolm is just the 11^th Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's basketball player to receive the top academic honor in college athletics.
 
Currently pursuing her Master's degree in Administration Management, Malcolm holds a 4.00 GPA in her graduate studies after graduating with a 3.83 GPA in Art Studies & Public Relations.
 
On the court, the 5-11 forward recently garnered GNAC Player of the Year and first-team all-conference honors after helping lead the Wildcats to their first GNAC Tournament championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA West Regional, just the second such bid in program history.
 
For the just completed season, Malcolm averaged 17.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in helping the Wildcats to a 24-8 overall record and regional semifinal appearance.
 
CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.

Currently, CoSIDA sponsors Academic All-America® programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball and men's and women's track and field/cross country. Many other sports are eligible through the At-Large program.
